What is very nice is that there are two new Codexes: Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus. This week's lists show their first results. Necrons look very strong! I'm really looking forward to the Las Vegas Open in January, the first major tournament of 2024, to see how well all factions are doing now.

With the new Necron codex the top 5 will change. Votann had a very bad weekend and players seem to be able to deal with this faction as well. I have to drop Tyranids too. The big question then is which two factions will be added?
With the new Necron codex the top 5 will change. Votann had a very bad weekend and players seem to learn how to deal with this faction. I have to drop Tyranids too. The big question now is which two factions will be added?
1. Chaos Space Marines
Easily still the best faction in 40k. This faction has everything you want. Tansports that you can make untargetable. Cheap characters that hit like a truck. And all kinds of units that are super effective for their points.
2. Aeldari
Still going very stong with 10x Wraithguard but we also see other lists. I think good players know how to play around the Wraithguard and therefore choose other options.
3. Space Marines
Every week we see different lists that are doing well. Many chapters and unit compositions, but they always score well at the tournaments. Yet we see few real tournament winning lists. I think Marines are right where you want them. This is what your list needs to be able to win from if you want to win a tournament. What you need to beat Space Marines are the mortal wounds, movement and high AP. It's no coincidence that Aeldari and Chaos Space Marines just happen to have these options.
4. Necrons
Necrons hit the top5 on 4th place. With all their high placements this weekend.The Canoptek Wraiths are the units you really have to watch out for. The playing style has changed a lot. At first it was more a question of whether you had the fire power or melee power to wipe out a blob of warriors in one go. It switched to being able to deal with the C`tan, Canoptek and action monkeys.
5. Death Guard
Determining what the 5th place should be on this blog was very difficult. Sisters, Orks and Death Guard all do well. I chose Death Guard this week because they won a 74 man tournament and you can't ignore this faction as you prepare for tournaments.
