Urban Destructed Base Tutotial

Get a base and a sheet of cork about 5 to 8 mm thick depending on how thick you want your walls. Also get a sheet of plastic card. No thicker than 1mm (preferable 0.5mm). These sheets are pretty big so you can make a lot of bases!!


Take a piece of cork that fits your base (optional: leave some space on your base) For the corner piece use an edge of the cork sheet or cut it straight. Place it on your plastic card and draw out the line of the broken part. &amp;gt; important for both sides of the wall!!&amp;lt; you can skip the ground layer just top side needed! Now glue your plastic card to your cork.


Dry fit everything so it fits well on your base. Make adjustments where needed!! Also cut the excess plastic card so it fits better to the cork. Don’t need to be neat it’s an exploded building after all.


Glue the walls together but not on the base yet!! Let it dry properly before you continue.


Get a paperclip and a rough sandpaper or sanding stick. Make the walls rough with the sandpaper for a more natural look. Cut the paperclip in small pieces and stick them in the cork wall with a nice interval. This will be the metal bars from the concrete sticking out. Now glue the walls on your base!!


A few things happened here: Added some bullet holes in the walls with a small drill. Put Vallejo ground texture on all the corners and along the sides of the walls. Placed some very small cork pieces on the inside of the wall for rubble effect. The small bricks are optional but give a really cool effect. Let everything dry properly!!

Prime your base, I used a grey primer. Next: highlight the walls with a light grey. You can drybrush or use an airbrush.

Now we are ready to make everything really dirty and grimy. I used the Vallejo face wash (ink) for all the sandy and dirty corners. Don’t forget the outer walls!! Then I gave the whole base a wash with Agrax earthshade. Important that you use an up to down motion for a streaking effect!! Repeat if necessary.

Paint some small details like the bricks. I used a dark red. Add some blood or graffiti to the walls for an extra cool effect. Give it a light wash again with the up to down motion with seraphim sepia. You can paint your base in any way you want, this is just an easy grimdark effect.
